日前，微软宣布，该公司前任首席执行官史蒂夫・鲍尔默(Steve Ballmer)将退出其董事会，即时生效。意味着微软鲍尔默的时代彻底结束，微软纳德拉时代正式开启。不过针对鲍尔默的离去，有业内评论称，鲍尔默给纳德拉留下了四个“窟窿”，而纳德拉如何解决这四个“窟窿”将关系着自己“移动为先、云为先”战略的执行和成败。

之所以称为“窟窿”是因为微软目前的Xbox游戏机业务、Surface平板电脑业务、Windows Phone手机业务、Bing搜索业务要么赔本，要么微利，其对于微软营收和利润的贡献已成为牵绊。重要的是，这些业务与微软新任CEO纳德拉倡导的“移动为先、云为先”的新战略似乎没有任何的关系。事实真的如此吗？

不可否认，微软上述业务对于微软整体营收和利润贡献甚微，甚至在某种程度上拖了后腿。例如据微软日前向美国证券交易委员会提交的2014财年年报显示，自去年11月发布Xbox One视频游戏机至今，该产品已累计给微软带来了超过4亿美元的亏损。同样在截至6月30日的2014财年第四财季，Surface的销售总额仅为4.09亿美元。自2012年推出第一代Surface以来，该产品已累计给微软带来约17亿美元的亏损。至于Windows Phone手机业务，由于并购诺基亚手机业务，截至6月30日的2014财年第四财季财报显示，诺基亚虽然给微软带来了近20亿美元的营收，但同时也出现了6.9亿美元的运营亏损，由此在一定程度上抵消了微软的软件业务利润，让微软2014财年第四财季的利润少了7亿美元。而微软的Bing搜索业务自2009年推出后，已经累计亏损超过100亿美元。

在此我们不妨简单计算一下，上述业务给微软造成的总亏损应该在130亿美元左右，从2009年(Bing推出)开始计算，平均每年亏损20亿美元左右，而分摊到每个季度大约是5亿美元，再具体分摊到四个业务，平均每个业务每个季度的亏损是1.2亿美元左右。而微软最新季度财报显示，其利润为46.12亿美元。不知道看到这些细化的数字及对比，微软以不到自身利润1/46的亏损，在当前仍很重要的搜索、手机、平板电脑、游戏主机等产业保有了自己的一席之地，是否值得？

首先我们看看亏损最为严重的微软的Bing。这里不妨引用微软CEO纳德拉近日在参加Code大会上对于Bing战略作用的评价：“在后PC时代，我们越来越多地依赖着各样的数据。微软将继续专注于必应搜索，为其数据库添加更多用户所需要了解的问题答案，使其变得更加高效。在过去的几个月里，必应搜索已经帮助微软了解到了用户各个层面的需求。目前，Bing占据了搜索市场18%的份额，如果算上为之提供技术支撑的雅虎，市场份额占比就是30%。此外，Bing也是微软推出的语音助手Cortana的重要组成部分，而且必应搜索已经与微软的多种服务进行了整合。而众所周知的事实是Cortana将是移动和未来车载系统重要的不可或缺基础应用(因为使用环境的限制，多数应用需要语音控制)，重要的是，在相关评测中，微软的Cortana的表现甚至好于谷歌的Google Now和苹果的Siri。而这一切的基础无疑是Bing的存在和发展。

除此之外，我们需要补充的是，目前搜索广告仍属谷歌营收和利润的支柱，也正因为这个支柱作为后盾，谷歌才可以肆无忌惮地涉足移动、可穿戴设备、智能家居、云计算等诸多目前尚不能给其带来可观营收和利润的产业中。而正因为微软Bing的存在，让谷歌在搜索市场的份额始终处在65%左右的滞胀状态。试想一下，如果没有微软Bing的存在，再联想雅虎CEO梅耶尔之前屡屡要与微软解除搜索上的合作，而投奔谷歌，甚至一度有传闻称，其要将自己的搜索业务卖给谷歌，那么后果将会怎样？占有近乎100%搜索的谷歌，势必营收和利润大幅增长，进而为其在其他领域(包括微软现有和新进入的领域)提供更强劲的支持动力，间接或直接损害微软的业务(例如云计算、Google App for Business、移动等)。而Bing近乎30%左右搜索市场份额的存在对于谷歌将起到有效的钳制作用。

再来看Xbox业务。我们在此同样引用纳德拉的评论：随着Xbox One的发布，Xbox已经融入Windows的生态系统。此举也让Xbox成为微软更宏大的平台推广战略的一部分，因此也是微软服务和设备战略的核心组成部分。

此外，尽管业内声称智能手机和平板电脑(被喻为主机游戏第二屏)会对游戏主机市场造成冲击，但在之前的E3大展中市场研究机构发布的根据超过六个月的应用数据分析，玩家在“第二屏幕”上的投入程度，远没有厂商原先所设想的那么多。即对于游戏玩家来说，主机游戏才是。就手机和平板那么小的屏幕、以及远不如鼠标和键盘的操控，“第二屏幕”更多地只是个很美好的幻想，这也预示着Xbox One所在的游戏主机市场仍有较大的增长空间。而根据此前Statista公布的数据显示，预计2014年微软的游戏主机(Xbox One和Xbox 360)总销量将达到1150万台，同比增长15%，开始扭转近两年不增反降的市场颓势。与Bing的市场地位类似，虽然Xbox One出货量不及索尼的PS4，但因为Xbox One的存在，索尼在偌大的主机游戏产业中不能独美。

最后看微软的Surface和Windows Phone。有关这方面的分析已经很多，我们在此不想过多赘述。需要纠正的是，有业内认为，微软推Surface和并购诺基亚手机业务(之后带来亏损的包袱)损害了微软OEM合作伙伴的利益，并以当年谷歌并购摩托罗拉移动(好似进军手机硬件市场)损害谷歌Android合作伙伴，最终将其卖给中国联想为例，证明微软策略的失误。实际情况是，当时的Android面临诸多潜在诉讼，且摩托罗拉移动在手机市场日渐颓势，谷歌出手并购，既利用摩托罗拉移动的专利储备在某种程度上保证了Android生态系统的安全，又避免了Android生态系统失败案例负面的出现。重要的是，谷歌并购摩托罗拉移动之举，非但没有影响OEM伙伴的利益，反而促使它们热情高涨，并出现了三星这个Android成功的典型范例，自身更是壮大到今天在智能手机市场占有80%以上的绝对优势地位。

与谷歌相比，微软在发布Surface和并购诺基亚手机业务前，其平板电脑和智能手机产业的形势远不如当时谷歌并购摩托罗拉移动乐观。如果微软不自己发布Surface的话，微软在平板电脑市场的份额近乎于零。虽然目前的市场份额也不高，但毕竟在Surface的带领下，已有昔日的PC合作伙伴在推Windows的平板电脑，毕竟微软通过Surface向业内传达了其在平板电脑市场的决心，这才是最关键的。同样，在智能手机市场，如果微软不并购诺基亚手机业务，鉴于诺基亚之前一直在秘密研制Android手机，其倒戈的几率很高，一旦如此，其支撑微软Windows Phone市占率的损失是小，战略合作伙伴叛逃，进而导致本就在业内缺乏支持的Windows Phone后继如何说服合作伙伴的加入才是大。从这个意义上看，微软并购诺基亚手机业务的战略作用要远大于谷歌当初并购摩托罗拉移动。

综上所述，我们认为，鲍尔默退出微软董事会留给纳德拉绝非是业内所言的什么窟窿(仅从营收角度未免过于肤浅，况且就像我们前面分析的，这些亏损对于微软也无实质性影响)，恰是纳德拉继续推进微软前进的基石。就像鲍尔默给纳德拉信中所言：在这个移动至上、云至上的世界里，软件开发是一项关键技能，但要通过企业注册、硬件毛利润和广告营收取得盈利之后才能成功。我对“移动至上，云至上”的策略充满信心，对我们把主要的创新着力点放在平台和生产力方面，并把设备和服务作为企业核心推动力的能力建设充满信心。而纳德拉在回信中称：在你的领导下，我们打造了坚不可摧的基础，并将继续依此建设。微软定能在“移动至上，云至上”的世界里繁荣发展。
